Every year we celebrate Black History Month during February.
It’s the time of year that most people will spend reflecting on little know black history facts, with a mission to share it with the masses. Its amazing that here we are in 2012 and we still have Black history that is untold, American history that is untold.
It is important to continue the tradition of celebrating Black History because until there is a level playing field, that history will not be taught on the grand scale (unfortunate but true).
This year I urge us to try something different, keep the focus on Black History, but also employ an understanding that history is being made every single day and we should honor that as well. Try looking back at some of our ancestor’s contributions and match them up with a modern day history maker.
Draw a line from the past to the present…there is nothing better than honoring where we come from with showing what we have become.
Many paved the way for us through blood, sweat and tears and even their life. Our tribute to them should be what we choose to do to honor their sacrafice…
Enjoy the month by making your own mark in Black History which is American History!
